Welcome back to the Wake the F*ck Up Podcast. This week Alix and Dr. David Long are taking a break from podcasting as Alix recovers from a successful Fetoscopic ablation to resolve Vasa Previa. Here at WAKE we are so happy and thankful that the procedure was a success, and so proud of our courageous leader Alix and the resilience she has shown during this challenge. While Alix remains on 2-3 weeks of bed rest before the arrival of their sweet baby girl, Wayne Taylor and Katie Coffee are guest-hosting the podcast.
As a follow up to our episode about anxiety last week, Wayne and Katie dive into the subject of ADHD this week, and explore how these two concepts are related. If you suffer from one or both of these conditions, you already understand the connection. Katie offers an informative and insightful perspective on living with ADHD, outlining its causes, symptoms, and the societal stigmas that go along with this often-misunderstood condition, particularly emphasizing gender differences in diagnosis. As Katie says, having a better understanding of ADHD can help in fostering supportive interactions for people in your life living with this condition. She mentions a few books she’s enjoying right now, we’ll link to those as well as some resources in the show notes below.
From there, Katie and Wayne shift the conversation to goal setting. The key takeaway here - small, actionable goals can be a lot more manageable than broad ambitions. Our hosts discuss what setting achievable goals means for them, while underscoring the importance of self-acceptance and enjoying the process.
Stick around for the end of the episode because you don’t want to miss our sneak preview of the upcoming WAKE retreat scheduled in Puerto Vallarta from November 2-9, 2024. Our hosts share an overview of the planned activities, accommodations, and what you can expect in this transformative opportunity to awaken your authentic self. There are only a few spots left.
