Healing from Loss in 5 Steps - Part 2

Welcome back to the Wake the F*ck Up Podcast as we pick up part two of our special two part episode sharing our new Wake Wellness framework around healing loss with self-love. As you heard in last week’s episode, healing your grief using self love is a guiding principle of our work here at Wake Wellness. Alix sat down with Dr. David to walk through the five steps in a live podcast recording session and we shared the first three steps with you on last week’s episode. This week we pick things up with the fourth step, as Dr. David shares his raw and unfiltered insights on male healing from shattering to returning to love.

Step 4: Choosing Yourself - David shares details about the conscious decisions he made in his healing after beginning therapy. This discussion highlights the importance of self-care and making choices for oneself as part of the healing journey. Alix also emphasizes the role that societal expectations can play in grief and healing, and how to let go of those expectations and prioritize your personal needs

Step 5: Return to Love - This is the fifth and final step in our Wake framework for healing loss with self love. Alix and David dive into an emotional conversation about returning to love after loss. Our hosts share their unique and personal insights on the importance of self-love and connection, and discuss the ways that healing requires you to face the challenges and fears associated with loving again.

As Alix shares throughout this episode, this framework can work for any of our listeners processing their grief and learning to heal with self love. Healing from loss is a journey, one that requires patience, self-compassion, and a deep commitment to self-love. By embracing these five steps—feeling the abandonment, going inside, trusting yourself, choosing yourself first, and returning to love—you can navigate through your pain and emerge stronger, more resilient, and more connected to your true self.

Remember that like the grief cycle, the healing process is sequential but not always linear, and each step forward is a testament to your strength and capacity for love.
